Eva Bertram

Educator

Hi I’m Eva and I’m excited to be joining the Year 2 Hub in 2023!

I was lucky enough to be working alongside some of the fabulous teachers last year at St John’s and am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Kelly and Lauren this year.

As an educator I’m passionate about inclusivity and celebrating the unique and diverse ways of learning. This passion has led me to discover a love of Auslan and how it can be incorporated into the classroom and spread out to the wider community. I enjoy watching children evolve with each learning experience they encounter and will continue to foster their inquisitive nature.

When I’m not at school, you can find me spending time with my kind hearted family, particularly playing ‘cool’ aunty to my nieces and nephews, enjoying coffee with friends or exercising my way through an almond croissant by running or biking around the Maribyrnong River.

I look forward to building positive relationships with the students and families of St John’s.

Kelly Edgar

Educator

Hello St John’s community,  I am extremely excited to join the two hub this year, working alongside the amazing Eva and Lauren! I was very grateful to join the St John’s community last year as the Sports Educator and I cannot wait to expand on my teaching journey as a classroom educator, enhancing my teaching knowledge and practice. I believe that children should be at the centre of their learning and I aim to create a safe, engaging and nurturing learning environment for all children to thrive and explore their passions.

Prior to teaching I have had various experience in educator roles in Melbourne and overseas. As a gymnastics coach, I have had the opportunity to train gymnasts of all ages to increase their physical health and motor skill development. Whilst living in New York City, I had the opportunity to educate the public on the ecological and public health importance of street trees and green spaces within the city, when I was working in the department's forestry department.

When I’m not teaching  I enjoy painting, playing beach volleyball,  hiking and exploring the great outdoors! I am also passionate about travelling and experiencing different cultures.

Lauren Maynard

Co-Educator

Hello I’m Lauren, I was given the opportunity to move up with the Two Hub children this year, and what an absolute privilege it is for me to be working with them all again alongside Kelly and Eva - I feel enthusiastic, motivated and inspired each and every day when i’m working with these children I love to capture their ways of working and thinking. I look forward to helping them grow, learn, discover and collaborate in this space - whilst learning Auslan along the way.

I started at St John’s in term 3 2022, in the One Hub alongside Lien and Amy who supported and encouraged me in my new role as a Co-Educator. It was a great introduction to being welcomed into the St John’s community that is supportive, warm and welcoming.

When I'm not at school I love spending time with my family and friends, I also love traveling - exploring new places and trying to master the art of Thai cuisines. I’m a Cricket and Calisthenics mum so my weekends are filled with watching my children do what they love. My family and I are also kept busy fostering Border Force dogs, and we were lucky enough to keep one last year. Her name is Layla, she keeps me busy with long walks and making adjustments to my garden.

Trisha Wheeler

Educator (Intervention)

Hello! My name is Trisha and I am so excited to be a member of the St. John’s community, not only as a parent, but now as an educator! I have been teaching for ten years now and completed my Masters of Teaching (Primary) at Melbourne University.

I feel incredibly privileged to be working at a school that puts children at the heart of everything we do! I truly believe that students learn best through rich, authentic play and discovery based experiences and that student wellbeing is of the utmost importance. My aim is to empower children to take risks, think creatively, problem solve and, of course, have a LOT of fun!

I will be working in Learning Intervention, providing small group support for students and working closely with teachers to help children achieve their learning goals.

When I am not at St. John’s, you might find me at the dog park with my crazy Kelpie, Lucy, or at the local playgrounds with my daughters, Frankie and Nina. I love the beach and spending time on my boogie board up in Ocean Grove and I am hoping to give surfing a red hot go this Summer!

I can’t wait to get to know all of our St. John’s families even better this year!
