Michele Hayes

Hi my name is Michele.  I am so excited to be a Four Hub educator in 2023.

I have been teaching for many years, too many to mention but my passion for teaching has grown over the years. I am passionate about literacy, I am an avid reader and love to share stories with the children. I have some great books to read to the kids this year, I can’t wait!!

I have 2 dogs, Joe & Ruby and I love walking them each day.  I have 2 sons Jack & Darcy and a new daughter in law, Jacinta.

I come from a large family so family is very important to me. I am really looking forward to meeting all the children’s families and working with them to create the best learning environment.

Jordan Fry

Educator
Faith Leader

Hello beautiful St John’s community! In addition to working alongside Michele and Erin in the Four Hub, I will be fulfilling the RE/Faith leadership role this year. I feel honoured and excited to continue developing and strengthening our community’s spirituality and connection with Faith.

I believe that children should be at the centre of their learning, and have the freedom to explore and discover their individual passions and interests through the 100 Languages of Learning. Forming genuine and meaningful relationships with students and families is vital in supporting students and in fostering a love for learning.

In my spare time you can find me with my fur babies: Bella the dog and Hank the cat, or spending time with my parents on their farm in Geelong.

Erin Schembri

Educator

Hi, I'm Erin and I teach Engaging With Place, which combines learning about the perspectives of our local First Nations People, the Wurundjeri, and growing and caring for our farm space.

Sustainability is a major passion of mine, so I like to create immersive opportunities for children to engage with the land, like: growing our own organic food and reducing our green waste by composting and worm farming.

I will also have the opportunity to join the Four Hub. I’m looking forward to building strong relationships and influencing children’s projects.

When I’m not at St. John’s, I’m exploring every corner of the beautiful parks and lakes that surround Melbourne with my husband and sons, Hunter and Gene. Besides exploring, we love to dance, garden, swim and whip up batches of banana pancakes.

Thushari Senarath

Co-Educator

Hello, my name is Thushari.

I am so thrilled to be continuing my journey in 2022 at St. Johns. It has been a privilege to be part of this amazing community for the past nine years.

I strive to build good relationships with the children, respecting each individual. I also value and understand the diversity and strengths of our beautiful community.

At home, I enjoy cooking, listening to music and spending time with my husband Diran, and our daughters Taneesha and Kiara. We look forward to travelling to Sri Lanka together and creating beautiful memories with our parents and families.

Can’t wait to experience another great year!

Trisha Wheeler

Educator (Intervention)

Hello! My name is Trisha and I am so excited to be a member of the St. John’s community, not only as a parent, but now as an educator! I have been teaching for ten years now and completed my Masters of Teaching (Primary) at Melbourne University.

I feel incredibly privileged to be working at a school that puts children at the heart of everything we do! I truly believe that students learn best through rich, authentic play and discovery based experiences and that student wellbeing is of the utmost importance. My aim is to empower children to take risks, think creatively, problem solve and, of course, have a LOT of fun!

I will be working in Learning Intervention, providing small group support for students and working closely with teachers to help children achieve their learning goals.

When I am not at St. John’s, you might find me at the dog park with my crazy Kelpie, Lucy, or at the local playgrounds with my daughters, Frankie and Nina. I love the beach and spending time on my boogie board up in Ocean Grove and I am hoping to give surfing a red hot go this Summer!

I can’t wait to get to know all of our St. John’s families even better this year!
