Week 1

Dear Families and Friends of St John’s,

It is unbelievable to think that we are now into the fourth term with Christmas seemingly just around the corner! The holidays were no doubt a wonderful break for one and all, however in saying this, it is fantastic to be back at school to see just how excited children are to again meet up with friends and continue their learning.

We certainly start the term in full swing – I hope everyone is managing the organisation of swimming and the tired children after swimming. There has been a lot of excited children in the swimming pool. We have many events coming up, please ensure to keep checking FlexiBuzz, newsletter dates, seesaw and public calendar.

Our Geography unit is coming to an end soon – “there’s a world inside my nose,” we would love families to chat about the places children have explored and the concept of ‘resources’ in different places. We have been thrilled to see the amount of learning children have shown from maps, locations, characteristics and much much more.

Have a great week,

Gemma

Generous Donation

Dear St John’s families,
Earlier this year we sadly lost one of our beautiful students – Patrick.
One of Patrick’s favourite things to do was jumping on the trampoline and sharing it with friends when they visited. And Patrick’s family would now like to find a new home for it.
It’s a Springfree brand, size medium. Considered one of the safest trampolines.
The trampoline has been dismantled by one of the team from Springfree and they’ve checked it for safety and it’s been given the all clear for a new home.
If you are interested, please issue your request in writing to admin@sjfootscray.catholic.edu.au for consideration.
We sincerely thank Patrick’s family for their generosity and continued support of St John’s.

New Administration Package for St John’s

Over the next year or so all Catholic schools are migrating to a new admin package / software. It is the biggest change we have had in school wide systems – everything must be merged, migrated, re entered or deleted – therefore we ask for your patience during this time. Leonie and Louise are currently having training, the experts have told us it will be around the 4 month mark that we begin to feel comfortable with the program. Send us positive vibes and please remember we are on L plates with this system.

Community Noticeboard

Caroline Chisholm Catholic College will be providing an information night on Wednesday 23rd October 6.30-7.30pm for Grade 4 parents who would like to find out more about enrolment processes for secondary schools.

At the information session we’ll be sharing information about:

  • The College and options regarding secondary schools.
  • The enrolment process in a Catholic school versus a state school.
  • Tips on how to make the enrolment process as smooth as possible.
  • What parents can do now (Grade 4 ) to ensure they make an informed decision

The information shared is of generic nature to help parents start the process of thinking of secondary school, we welcome all parents and carers even if our College is not their first preference.
